Watching the national news programs this morning which highlighted Martin Luther King's Legacy moved me so. Ah, it is history now but I was a young child when that all happened. Yet it seems like it must have been a different country, not the United States of America where anyone can become anything they put their heart, soul and mind into.
In my opinion, Martin Luther King did so much more than drop the lines on racial inequality. I believe as a woman if it were not for Martin Luther King I would not have had the opportunities available to me. He made us think as ONE....not by race, religion, creed, national origin or sex...but on the true value of the human being.
Thank you Mr. King, without you I would not have been able to have all the wonderful friendships I have had with people of other races. I would not have had the opportunities to advance myself. My children would not have the shared experiences which have been so eloquently written about of those facing racial discrimination, their heritage and social experience.
Some may still be blinded in thinking what Martin Luther King did he did for the Black People of America, in my humble opinion he freed us all from the barriers which were so common to our society. For me Martin Luther King is one of the strongest and most influential people of my lifetime, without guns or weapons, other than the strongest determination Martin Luther King lifted the lead doors of racial barriers and discrimination for ALL.
May your Legacy live on Martin Luther King.
