The holiday season is upon us, parties, family and friends, scurrying from store to store for last minute gifts and decorating our homes and businesses with holiday cheer!
To ensure a safe and happy holiday season please take the precautions with your decorating to make it an enjoyable one for all.
Pets and small children love to look, feel, touch and sometimes pull on the tree so please make sure your tree is in a strong, sturdy holder. When we had small children, dogs and cats in the house we used to also anchor the tree using fishing line, very invisible - it does not take away from the effect of the beautifully decorated tree and it is very beneficial in keeping your tree in place.
Also make sure those beautiful ornaments, many with small pieces attached and some which are breakable are carefully affixed to the branches, small pieces are enticing to young children and pets and can cause choking hazards as well as broken glass slivers may be bring tears to more than the owners of the ornaments.
Check the level of water in your real tree on a daily bais with the heat on in a home, the trees drink more water than one would think and dry branches not only cause a mess to clean up they also become highly likely to ignite.
On your artifical trees make sure they are fire retardant - check the labels, maybe it is time for a new tree to keep your family safe!
Although some of our ethnic heritage encourages the lighting of real candles upon the tree we know that if we too want to create pleasant holiday traditions to be passed down we will enjoy the many new lighting accessories which look so realistic and make sure that candles are not in close proximity to our trees, real or artifical, and other holiday decorations.
To you all I wish you a safe and happy and healthy holiday season!
