Well it doesn't seem so long ago that we met at a Bed and Breakfast on Sandwich Street, Route 3A, in Plymouth Massachusetts to listen to the visions of a company coming to our community with a dream. The dream was to create a community in the Plymouth Colony, a vision similar to the Pilgrims, a vision of creating a community within a community. I can remember sitting in the beautiful surroundings of the bed and breakfast listening to the grand ideas of defining an area in the woods...and I do mean the woods, there were trees everywhere. An area which seemed so removed from the then current hub bub of activity.
The developers showed us their designs, beautiful renderings of town houses and condos and more. We looked at each other, could this be true? Will they carve a civilized community out of this wilderness? And if they do who will come? Price tags at that point initially were in the $100,000 range...who would pay $100,000 to live in the woods. Again condos in other areas were going for this amount of money, closer to transportation, closer to the metropolitan areas.
As we sat and listened we began to see and feel the developers ideas and aspirations of creating a housing not known to our area. We began to visualize this new planned community, could it be possible...well all these years later The Pinehills in Plymouth Massachusetts is a community unto itself. A planned community has welcomed a large number of residents.
The residents have been attracted to this area South of Boston, approximately sixty miles south of Boston and just north of the Sagamore and Bourne Bridges to the Cape. The community is beautiful, it is full and rich, offering all of the amenities one could ask for along with the beauty of nature - trees, plantings, minutes to the seashore and minutes to camping, hiking and boating.
This is an area where you can have it all, great for retirement as there are specific age enhanced areas of this community directed towards the over fifty five buyer and occupant and then plenty of housing which is not age specific as well as rental properties too. The Pinehills Community center offers the other services one would need to cultivate a wonderful full living area including The Market, a great local market which offers all the basics plus the speciality items of ready to serve gourmet foods, deli, fruit and vegetables and a bakery to make you salivate as you walk into the doors of the market. The Post Office is a friendly spot for all the neighbors to meet and exchange greetings as well as a florist, winery, bank and more.
One can catch the sounds of music on the green and if you are interested in the Arts, wonderful talented artists display their art on a regular basis for your viewing pleasure. The Pinehills have created all they penciled in many years ago, created all they spoke of and more.
